likes to get an audit from a government agency-but when it happens, I represent
my clients, at audit, WITHOUT CHARGE!! My philosophy is "if I did the
return, I am willing to defend my work."
I do not charge my clients for most tax
advice during the year. If they were afraid I would "start the meter"
every time they called, they would not call. It is far better to know what is
happening before it happens, then to try to correct or undo the transaction
later. In many cases the client would have made a bad decision, from a tax or
even a financial point of view, if they had not called me for advice first.
I am a firm believer in what "goes
around, comes around." A little goodwill today will go a long way
tomorrow.
